| Abstract: | Terahertz wave lies at the frontier of RF electromagnetism, serving as a transition to infrared photonics. Terahertz technology has been widely used in industrial quality control, security imaging, and high-speed communications, and terahertz waves can be generated using the opto-electronic solution by photoconductive antenna. This project aims to provide enhancement over conventional photoconductive antenna. Numerical simulations have been carried out with experimental validation. The proposed multiphysics numerical simulation methodology e ectively resolves problem by decoupling optical response to semiconductor physics, providing an integrated platform to carry out THz radiation computation for further studies. Graphene- and plasmonic-enhanced bow-tie photoconductive antenna has been numerically investigated, supported by fabrication and measurement. The experiment shows a 72% enhancement with graphene. A novel spiral antenna has been proposed, fabricated, and tested. |
