Abstract: | This project is to explore the use of Team-Based Learning (TBL) for a biomaterial course that include multidisciplinary domains. In the (post-) pandemic era, one of the challenges faced in the teaching is inadequate communication between lectures and students. In on-line teaching, students facing computer all day long and listening to the one-way lecturing easily feel bored and tired of learning. Here I propose to address this issue by implementing TBL in this interdisciplinary subject with the additional focus of e-learning. This will convert the one-way lecturing to a two-way communication process. Students are requested to go through the pre-distributed teaching materials before class. In the lecturing, the teacher will provide 20-30 questions in each class to guide the students and their team to memorize, discuss, understand, and implement the concepts. This TBL can be carried in both online and onsite without compromising the learning outcome. |
