Completion Date: | Apr-2022 |
Abstract: | This project develops a new method of teaching Hong Kong case law related to arts and creativity to undergraduate creative media students. This method is based on storytelling techniques to allow learning law while improving skills in creative media production. The development and integration of the method into teaching the undergraduate course SCM3743 Law and Creativity at the School of Creative Media, CityU in 2021-2022 has resulted in significant improvement of the course outcomes, particularly as seen from the increased TLQ rates in the year of the method implementation. The project's deliverables are in the Appendix to the Report. They are (i) the collection of stories created on the basis of Hong Kong case law concerning arts and creativity; (ii) SCM student creative projects integrated into the stories; (iii) an open-access web platform Law&Creativity comprising the stories and student project, available at https://lawcreativity.wixsite.com/cityu. This method and the resulting project were presented at a regional Asian research event on teaching law, the ALSA Symposium organized at SLW on 27 April 2021. Both the method and project received positive feedback from students and colleagues, who noted that the method is highly transferable with great potential to be used by law teachers at CityU and other universities to advance the legal and creative knowledge and skills among non-law students. |
