Abstract: As similar to many developed countries in the world, Hong Kong is facing a more and more serious problem of aging. It implies an increasing proportion of population stepping into the aged world with weak physical and psychological status and worse quality of life and also an increasing demand of elderly care and attention services from the whole society. Elders’ quality of life is threated by the limited resources and ineffective non-purpose designed Facilities Management. With the changing background of generations, potential elders who will become elders in a few years’ time will have different expectation and perceptions of the services provided as well. Therefore, a continuous development of Facilities Management assisted with effective innovative practices for elderly care services is required in order to enhance the quality of life of elders including the potential ones and to reduce the demand of caregivers for keeping the development of the whole society. In this thesis, the current situation of quality of life of elders is studied through a combination of methodology of focus group studies and questionnaire surveys. Data collected is analyzed systematically from both qualitative aspect and quantitative aspect, the latter of which adopts the SPSS software analysis. Current elders and potential elders will be compared during the data analysis and proposed innovative Facilities Management strategies will be provided to cope with the aging problem. The recommendation, limitation and further studies required will also be discussed.
