dc.description.abstract | Antenna as a way to facilitate wireless communication is increasingly in need nowadays. The WiGig, standing for Wireless Gigabit Alliance, is an association to promote the IEEE 802.11ad protocol to develop technologies for communication at speeds of multi-gigabit over the 60 GHz frequency band. Antennas working at this frequency band have the advantage of small profile, increased spectrum utilization and fast communication speed. They are commonly used in the scientific research for remote sensing and short-distance communication. There are many ways to design broadband antennas. Using complementary sources is among one of them, due to the radiation characteristics of an electric dipole and a magnetic dipole. In this project, an antenna array consisting of 4 units with circular polarization and complementary sources operating at 60GHz has been designed. For each element, there is a slot antenna and a dipole antenna. The slot couples energy from the microstrip line and feeds the dipole antenna. A power divider has been designed to provide equal power to each unit and 90 degree phase shift between the adjacent two units. The location of the four units has been optimized to provide low return loss, broad 3 dB axial ratio bandwidth and gains higher than 10dBi. The antenna has also been fabricated in ROGERS laminate and the measurement results matched with the simulation results in HFSS. | en_US |
